Tengrinews.kz – Kazakhstanis will be able to travel to Armenia using only their ID cards. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has signed the corresponding law, according to Akorda.
Citizens of Kazakhstan will now be able to visit Armenia without a passport — only with their national ID card.
The Head of State signed the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On the ratification of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the Republic of Armenia on travel and stay procedures for citizens.”
The law text will be published in official print media.
Earlier, on October 2, the Senate of Parliament ratified agreements on the procedures for citizens’ travel and stay, as well as cooperation in the field of migration between Kazakhstan and Armenia.
Now, Kazakhstanis can visit Armenia with an ID card and stay there for up to 90 days without registration or a visa. The document was originally signed in Yerevan on April 15, 2024.
Additionally, Kazakhstan and Armenia will exchange data and legal information and cooperate in combating illegal migration and dual citizenship.
Interior Minister Yerzhan Sadenov previously clarified that the new regulation introduces a requirement to register with internal affairs authorities after 30 days of stay. Currently, Armenian citizens can stay in Kazakhstan without police registration for up to 90 days.
According to the minister, the new measure will improve migration control efficiency. Since the beginning of the year, nearly 12,000 Armenian citizens have entered Kazakhstan.
Note: The 90-day stay rule is not new — Kazakhstan has similar arrangements with several other countries. This agreement with Armenia officially formalizes the rules, making travel conditions more transparent and convenient for citizens.
