Public holidays in May 2025

Kazakhstan celebrates three official public holidays in May:

May 1 (Thursday) – Kazakhstan's People Solidarity Holiday
May 7 (Wednesday) – Defenders' Day
May 9 (Friday) – Victory Day

Since all three fall on weekdays, they will be observed as non-working days.

For a five-day workweek:

April 28–30 – working days
May 1 (Thu) – day off
May 2 (Fri) – working day
May 3–4 (Sat–Sun) – weekend

For a six-day workweek:

The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection has confirmed that there will be no holiday transfers, including the possibility of shifting the day off from May 11 to May 8, despite the 'split' nature of the holidays.

Professional holidays in May

Although not official days off, May is also rich in professional holidays:

May 17 – Communications Workers’ Day
May 20 – Metrology Workers’ Day
May 21 – Culture and Art Workers’ Day
May 25 – Chemical Industry Workers’ Day (last Sunday of May)

The Ministry of Ecology has also proposed a new commemorative date: Kazakh Dog Breeds Day on September 3.
