Nauryz symbolizes the renewal of nature, the arrival of spring, and the beginning of the new year according to the Eastern calendar. Its name translated from Persian means "new day", and the traditions of the celebration go back centuries.
Before the holiday, it is customary to clean the house, throw out old things, and forgive offenses. And the main dish of the holiday is nauryz kozhe, a soup made from seven ingredients symbolizing prosperity.
Concerts, sports games, fairs, and theatrical performances are held in cities and villages. On this day, it is also customary to help those in need, visit relatives, and wish each other well-being.
Earlier, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population provided information on the transfer of public holidays in Kazakhstan in 2025.

The new format of the celebration, approved in 2024 on the initiative of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, makes Nauryz multi-day and full of cultural events.
