Tengrinews.kz – Taxi demand in Kazakhstan reached record levels in January-February 2025. During this period, taxis transported 20.6 million passengers, which is 2.4 times more than in the same period last year, according to DataHub.
January and February were particularly successful months, with figures of about 10 million passengers each. This trend has been observed for five months in a row, starting in late 2024, when monthly transportation exceeded 7 million people.
However, such growth raises questions, since taxi demand is usually subject to seasonal fluctuations, with a peak in December and a decline in January.
But the data presented in the graph does not demonstrate such seasonality.
The number of passengers transported by taxi is calculated using a special formula that takes into account that one person can make several trips during the reporting period. However, accurately determining the number of trips remains a challenge, as taxis do not yet use sensors to count passengers.
