Tengrinews.kz - The head of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, Sayasat Nurbek, spoke about a study on the impact of a single time zone on Kazakhstan's citizens.
As Sayasat Nurbek reported, the Ministry of Healthcare has submitted a request for a special scientific study on the impact of a single time zone on the people of Kazakhstan. Leading institutions in the country are expected to be involved in the study.
"We plan to involve leading institutions, including the Institute of Geography, as well as the Ministry of Healthcare's institutes, which will focus on the physiological and medical aspects of the study. The Higher Scientific and Technical Commission will hold a meeting soon, during which we will present this topic. If approved, we will immediately announce a competition and begin the research," the minister said.
When asked how much funding would be needed for the research, the head of the ministry was unable to provide a specific figure but explained that "the request has been made" and the amount would be "clarified later."
Recall: on the night of February 29 to March 1, Kazakhstan switched to a single time zone. Three months later, on June 7, a petition to cancel the time change gathered the required 50,000 signatures.
In August, the Ministry of Trade and Integration announced the final decision regarding the time zone petition. At that time, Minister Arman Shakkaliyev stated that based on substantiated scientific international studies on the positive effects of standard time zones and the absence of evidence of negative health impacts, a decision was made to deny the petition.
