Tengrinews.kz - Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Transport has approved a plan to use industrial waste, including ash, slag, and mining by-products, in road construction.
Experts believe that recycling these materials could offer an effective solution for the country’s road-building sector.
According to Kazakhstan Road Research Institute (QAZJOLGZI), the use of recycled waste is expected to benefit all parties involved: the state can reduce infrastructure costs, while industrial enterprises can dispose of excess waste.
To implement the plan, authorities propose amending legislation to introduce mandatory standards for the use of secondary materials, along with tax incentives for recycling companies.
Research on the composition and suitability of industrial waste is already underway in the Pavlodar and Karaganda regions. Based on the findings, a list of recommended materials will be compiled and added to the unified database of road construction resources.
