Tengrinews.kz - Deputy Prime Minister Serik Zhumangarin spoke about cooperation and trade with Afghanistan.

According to Zhumangarin, there is significant interest from Afghanistan in purchasing vehicles from Kazakhstan.

"Our Afghan colleagues have requested car supplies. Kabul is developing rapidly, with ongoing construction and thriving trade. It seems they now have a growing middle class with some financial means. They've asked us to organize meetings and explore the possibility of setting up auto centers for selling both new and used cars," Zhumangarin said at a government briefing.

The deputy prime minister noted that this issue is being actively worked on, and he has already been in contact with Afghan representatives.

"First of all, a reliable partner on the Afghan side is needed to establish this type of business. But I believe that by next year, we could realistically start selling the first cars. I’ve asked them to handle matters related to premises and construction. Yesterday, we solved an important issue. Today, the correspondent account of one of Afghanistan's largest banks, Ghazanfar Bank, is expected to open with our Zaman-Bank. This creates a big financial gateway to Afghanistan, allowing for direct payments," Zhumangarin added.

He also mentioned that some Kazakh businesses have already shown interest in the venture.

According to the Ministry of Trade and Integration, on October 22, Almaty hosted the second Kazakhstan-Afghanistan business forum, during which 23 agreements on trade and economic cooperation were signed, totaling $317.6 million. More than 300 delegates from both countries participated in the event.

Six Kazakh companies signed contracts with Afghan partners for the supply of flour and grain, amounting to over $37 million.

Additionally, memorandums were signed for grain product deliveries worth $179 million, along with contracts for the supply of rapeseed, sunflower seeds, and soybeans.
