Tengrinews.kz - The longest bridge in Kazakhstan has been opened over the Bukhtarma Reservoir in the East Kazakhstan region.
This bridge connects six districts of the East Kazakhstan region: Kurchum, Ulken Naryn, Markakol, Katon-Karagai, Tarbagatai, and Zaisan. The project aims to address the long-standing issue of transportation accessibility in the region.
According to Transport Minister Marat Karabayev, the bridge is designed to accommodate up to 80,000 vehicles per day. Eighteen kilometers of new roads have been constructed leading to the crossing.

Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov attended the opening ceremony.
"The new bridge was built at the direction of the Head of State to enhance the comfort and safety of residents. You know that for 50 years, citizens in the region have traveled either by ferry in the summer or directly on ice in the winter. The local residents have long awaited the construction of this facility," said Olzhas Bektenov.
Recall that the bridge was previously tested for strength. A convoy of 15 loaded dump trucks, with a total weight of 450 tons, was driven across the bridge. Special sensors recorded indicators of deformation, vibration, and load distribution on the structure.
