Tengrinews.kz - The Ministry of Health's Sanitary and Epidemiological Service recently conducted emergency response drills at the international airports of Astana and Almaty, focusing on public health emergencies.
The exercises aimed to identify individuals with symptoms of quarantine and particularly dangerous infections, such as monkeypox. The drills involved coordination between key services, including sanitary-epidemiological, border, customs, airport services, the police, the airport medical unit, emergency medical services, and other healthcare organizations.
Special attention was given to the coordination of actions upon identifying passengers suspected of infectious diseases.
"During the drills, a simulated case of monkeypox was used. The staff went through the complete cycle of measures, from detecting symptoms in a passenger to hospitalizing them and carrying out necessary anti-epidemic and disinfection procedures," the Ministry of Health reported.
According to the ministry, all services demonstrated a high level of readiness and coordination. Following the drills, a seminar was held where recommendations were made to enhance interagency collaboration.
