Tengrinews.kz - The Kazakh Tazy officially received a patent for the uniqueness of the breed, according to the press service of the National Institute of Intellectual Property Qazpatent.
The patent holder is the "Kansonar" Association, which works on preserving national dog breeds.
"The patent confirms the uniqueness and stability of the new breed, protecting it as a cultural heritage of Kazakhstan," the statement reads.
The Kazakh Tazy breed was developed in local kennels and adapted to the extreme climatic conditions of Kazakhstan. From 2021 to 2023, research was conducted in collaboration with the Genetics Institute to create a DNA profile of the breed, which confirmed its uniqueness and stability.
It is worth noting that on January 2, 2023, Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed a law including the Kazakh dog breeds Tazy and Tobet in the list of state-protected objects.
In September 2024, the Federation Cynologique Internationale (FCI) has decided to grant preliminary recognition to the Kazakh Tazy as an official dog breed and confirmed Kazakhstan's status as the breed standard holder.
