Tengrinews.kz – Kazakhstani ice cream has become a popular treat abroad. Exports of the frozen dessert have increased by more than 40 percent, with particularly high demand in CIS countries and China, according to KTK.
According to data from the Bureau of National Statistics, nearly 4,500 tons of ice cream were exported to these destinations in the first five months of this year alone.
Since the beginning of the year, Kazakhstan has produced almost 24,000 tons of ice cream — a 17 percent increase compared to last year. Domestic production almost fully meets demand.
Imported ice cream accounts for just over 15 percent of the market. Most of it comes from Russia, Kyrgyzstan, and Turkey. In the first half of the year, ice cream imports totaled 3,000 tons.
