Tengrinews.kz — The start of 2026 will bring Kazakhstanis an extended break. In January, people will be able to rest for nearly half the month thanks to New Year holidays, weekends, and Christmas. How many days off will Kazakhstanis have in January?
The number of days off in January will depend on the length of the workweek:
- With a five-day workweek, Kazakhstanis will have 12 days off and 19 working days.
- With a six-day workweek, there will be fewer days off: 7 days of rest and 24 working days.
How Kazakhstanis will rest in January 2026
Five-day workweek
The schedule of days off and working days is as follows:
- January 1 and 2 — public holidays for New Year;
- January 3 and 4 — weekends;
- January 5 and 6 — working days;
- January 7 — day off for Christmas.
Six-day workweek
For those who work six days a week, the schedule will be:
- January 1 and 2 — public holidays;
- January 3 — working day;
- January 4 — day off;
- January 5 and 6 — working days;
- January 7 — day off (Christmas).
The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection clarified that there are no plans to reschedule any days off in January 2026.

Professional observances in January
In addition to the New Year holidays, several professional dates are observed in Kazakhstan in January:
- January 10 — National Guard Day;
- January 28 — Day of the Financial Monitoring Authorities.
