Infected peaches and carrots from China found at Kazakhstan border
Tengrinews.kz – State plant quarantine inspectors have stopped an attempt to import large batches of infected regulated products from China into Kazakhstan. Administrative cases have been initiated against the cargo owners, citing the Ministry of Agriculture website.
During a thorough inspection and laboratory examination, dangerous pests were found in two cargo shipments with a total weight of 39.52 tons. In particular, Oriental fruit moth was detected in a 19-ton batch of peaches. Globodera rostochiensis was found in a 20-ton batch of carrots.
The ministry noted that the entry of these quarantine objects into the country poses a direct threat to food security and could lead to significant crop losses for domestic agricultural producers.
“In accordance with international and national legislation in the field of plant quarantine, all infected products were promptly returned to the exporting country, China. Administrative cases have been initiated against the cargo owners,” the statement said.
