Independence Day, celebrated in Kazakhstan on December 16, is traditionally accompanied by festive events across the country. Residents and guests of Almaty are asking whether there will be a fireworks display this year. The city's press service provided an answer.

"In Almaty, there are no plans for fireworks on Independence Day," the akimat noted.

In 2024, December 16 falls on a Monday, giving the country's residents a long weekend to enjoy.

Weekend schedule:

• December 14, Saturday: A workday for those on a six-day schedule and a day off for those on a five-day schedule.
• December 15, Sunday: Regular day off.
• December 16, Monday: Independence Day (a public holiday for all).
