Tengrinews.kz - Recently, authorities in the Mangystau region deployed drones to monitor compliance with traffic regulations. The drones are already patrolling roads, detecting violations such as speeding, driving in the oncoming lane, improper overtaking, and other dangerous maneuvers.

According to the Mangystau Regional Police Department, five DJI Matrice M30T drones were purchased for these purposes, with a total cost of 11,641,319 tenge. Based on technical specifications, each drone is equipped with wide-angle, zoom, and thermal cameras, as well as a laser rangefinder.

  • Operational altitude: 7,000 meters
  • Maximum speed: 23 m/s

The protection class of these drones allows them to operate in adverse weather conditions and at temperatures ranging from -20°C to +50°C.

At present, operators in five specially equipped vehicles oversee the drones' operation.

Regional authorities believe that using drones will not only enhance driver discipline but also help reduce the number of traffic accidents.

Previously, a senator proposed spending over 125 billion tenge on building a new road between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
