Tengrinews.kz - Starting in 2026, Kazakhstan’s residents will see an increase in utility bills. The estimated cost hike was announced by the Committee on Regulation of Natural Monopolies (CRNM).
According to CRNM Chair Timur Kosymbayev, utility costs will rise by:
- About 3,500 tenge per month for one-room apartments,
- Around 5,000-7,000 tenge for two-room apartments.
“At present, the average monthly bill for a one-room apartment is 25,000 tenge. Next year, it will be approximately 28,000–30,000 tenge,” Kosymbayev said at a government briefing.
He emphasized that state support is available for low-income families and pensioners.
“Housing assistance programs are in place. Consumers in need can apply, and part of their expenses will be covered,” he added.
The committee’s press service clarified that utility tariffs are expected to increase annually by 20-30 percent, although this is a preliminary forecast for 2026.
CRNM noted that no specific date has been set for the beginning of the hikes.
“There are no fixed dates. It depends on when natural monopoly entities submit their applications,” the committee explained.
At the end of the briefing, Deputy Prime Minister Kanat Bozumbayev remarked that Kosymbayev may have overstated the expected increase.
“It’s better to request official information in writing. We’re planning a justified and measured increase,” Bozumbayev said.
