Tengrinews.kz - 1.5 million tourists visited the capital of Kazakhstan in 2024, which is 14% more than in the previous year, according to the press service of the Astana akimat.
According to the head of the capital's Department for Investment and Entrepreneurship Development, Khalel Akimzhanov, the main countries from which tourists come are Russia, China, Germany, Turkey, the USA, and South Korea.
"Business tourism and medical tourism are actively developing, special attention is paid to event tourism. Gastronomic and cultural and sports tourism are also popular," Akimzhanov noted.
In 2024, 168 major international events were held in the capital, including the SCO, Nomad Games, Automechanika, Enactus, Comic Con, and others. In 2025, it is planned to hold more than 300 cultural and sports events.
The following tasks have been set for the sustainable development of tourism in Astana:
- attracting international business, events, and sports events;
- development and promotion of medical and gastronomic tourism.
