Tengrinews.kz – In December 2025, Kazakhstanis will get an additional day off. Tengrinews.kz has prepared a calendar of holidays and days off for December so that residents can plan vacations, trips, or preparations for the New Year in advance.
How many days off will there be in December 2025
December is known for being a busy month. This year, residents will receive an extra day off in honor of Independence Day, which is celebrated annually on December 16.
In total, in December:
- for a five-day workweek — 9 days off and 22 working days;
- for a six-day workweek — 4 days off and 26 working days.
For those planning New Year celebrations early, it’s important to note that December 31 remains a working day. Therefore, residents are advised to plan shopping, holiday preparations, and travel arrangements in advance so the end of the year passes without rush or unnecessary hassle.

Discussion about making December 31 a day off
The idea of declaring December 31 an official holiday resurfaces periodically on social media. We asked the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection whether such a decision is being considered. The Ministry clarified that this date is not a state holiday and emphasized that making it a non-working day is considered “inappropriate.”

- December 6 — Prosecutor’s Day;
- December 13 — Penal System Workers’ Day;
