Tengrinews.kz – In October, Kazakhstanis will get one extra day off thanks to Republic Day. Tengrinews.kz has prepared a convenient calendar for the month so you can plan your long weekend in advance.
Republic Day is the only national holiday in Kazakhstan celebrated annually on October 25. It was established in 1990, when the Declaration of State Sovereignty was adopted. Since 2022, Republic Day has been an official public holiday.
How Kazakhstanis will rest on Republic Day in 2025
Five-day work week
In 2025, October 25 falls on a Saturday, so according to the law "On Holidays," the day off will be moved to Monday, October 27. As a result, Kazakhstanis will have three days off in a row:
- October 25 (Saturday);
- October 26 (Sunday);
- October 27 (Monday).
In total, with a five-day work week, October will have 9 days off and 22 working days.
Six-day work week
For those on a six-day schedule, the holiday weekend will be shorter:
- October 25 (Saturday) – holiday;
- October 26 (Sunday) – regular day off;
- October 27 (Monday) – working day.
Thus, employees with a six-day work week will have 5 days off in October.

Republic Day is celebrated across the country with concerts, exhibitions, festivals, and sports events. The additional day off in October is a good opportunity to spend time with family and friends, attend cultural activities, and enjoy the festive atmosphere.

Apart from Republic Day, Kazakhstan also observes several professional holidays in October:
- October 1 – Higher Education Workers’ Day;
- October 2 – Technical and Vocational Education Workers’ Day;
- October 5 – Teachers’ Day;
- October 6 – Defense Industry Workers’ Day;
- October 10 – Trade Union Day in Kazakhstan;
- October 14 – Standardization Workers’ Day;
- October 19 – Lifeguard Appreciation Day;
- October 19 (third Sunday of October) – Forestry Worker's Day;
- October 20 – Catering Workers’ Day;
- October 24 – Librarians’ Day;
- October 26 (last Sunday of October) – Social Protection Workers’ Day, Road Transport Workers’ Day, and Road Industry Workers’ Day;
- October 29 – Security Workers’ Day and Kazakhstan Entrepreneurs’ Day.
