Tengrinews.kz – In February 2026, there are no public holidays in Kazakhstan, so only Saturdays and Sundays will be days off, Almaty.tv reports.

Since the last month of winter is the shortest of the year, Kazakhstanis will have just eight days off in total.

At the same time, February includes a number of professional and other observances. Although these fall on working days, they are still marked and those concerned are congratulated.

The list of professional holidays is published in the version of Order No. 480 of the Acting Minister of Labour and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated 17 November 2023, which entered into force on the day of its first official publication.

Professional holidays:

  • February 1: Civil Aviation Worker's Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
  • February 2: National Press Day;
  • February 15: Day of the withdrawal of the limited contingent of Soviet troops from Afghanistan.

UN calendar:

  • 4 February – World Cancer Day; International Day of Human Fraternity;
  • 10 February – World Pulses Day;
  • 11 February – International Day of Women and Girls in Science;
  • 12 February – Red Hand Day (marked at UN level since 2002 as a remembrance day for child soldiers drawn into wars and armed conflicts); Darwin Day;
  • 13 February – World Radio Day;
  • 20 February – World Day of Social Justice;
  • 21 February – International Mother Language Day;
  • 27 February – World NGO Day, or World Non-Governmental Organizations Day.

In many countries, including Kazakhstan, 14 February is also celebrated as St. Valentine’s Day, or the Day of All Lovers.

Since 2011, Kazakhstan has marked its own national Lovers’ Day – “Ulttyq gashyqtar kunine orai”. As an alternative to the international February holiday, the organisers proposed their own date – 15 April, dedicated to Kozy Korpesh and Bayan-Sulu.
