Tengrinews.kz - Foreign nationals in possession of cybercrime equipment used by internet fraudsters have been detained in Kazakhstan, according to Polisia.kz.

Cyber police, in coordination with prosecutors, detained two unemployed foreign nationals in Kokshetau and Zhezkazgan, who had arrived in Kazakhstan to engage in illegal activities.

"During searches in both cities, officers seized two SIM-box devices with 128 slots each, more than 3,000 SIM cards, as well as routers, mobile phones, and network devices. The suspects have been placed in a temporary detention facility," said Aslan Uskembayev, Deputy Head of the Department for Combating Cybercrime at the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Since the beginning of the year, authorities have dismantled 10 fraud networks, detaining 11 individuals, including four foreign nationals. Police have seized 36 SIM-box devices, over 8,000 SIM cards, 11 computers, and 452 USB modems.

Most recently, officers from the Department for Combating Cybercrime detained a foreign national in an apartment in Almaty.
