Tengrinews.kz - A foreign national on an international wanted list was detained in Shymkent.
According to the Shymkent Police Department, officers from the anti-extremism unit arrested the 41-year-old foreign citizen during an operational and preventive measure called "Law and Order."
"The man was placed on an international wanted list by law enforcement in a neighboring country for violating customs regulations and accepting bribes. He had been evading criminal prosecution for 11 years," the statement said.
The detainee is currently in custody, and efforts are underway for his extradition.
Earlier, a foreign woman was detained by the National Security Committee at Astana International Airport while attempting to enter the country using a forged Kazakh passport.
