Foreign fugitive was detained at Almaty airport

Tengrinews.kz - A foreign national wanted on an international warrant was detained at Almaty Airport.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the man was apprehended by transport police officers. He had been on the international wanted list on suspicion of fraud committed in Turkey.

“In 2018, the suspect posted a fake online advertisement about selling pets, defrauded 67 people, and then fled Turkey,” the ministry said.

The detainee has been placed in a temporary detention facility.

Previously, a teenager’s inappropriate joke at Almaty Airport led to flight delays and temporary flight restrictions.
