Tengrinews.kz – Almaty residents are facing an extremely hot summer. According to forecasters, temperatures could reach +41°C as early as June, citing KTK.
Experts do not rule out new temperature records this year.
“We forecast a hot summer. Speaking of extreme weather, we should not forget that the absolute summer temperature record for Almaty was registered in 1983 and stood at +43°C. The number of extreme weather events is increasing. Therefore, perhaps this year we may break some record, even if only for one extremely hot day,” said Daulet Kisebayev, Head of the Weather Forecasting Department at Kazhydromet.
Although the city is still cool now, forecasters say real heat will arrive soon. Slightly cloudy and almost windless weather in Almaty will only intensify the heat.
According to experts, such conditions contribute to the accumulation of pollutants in the air, as high temperatures make them disperse more poorly. As a result, smog over the city may become denser.
On hot days, meteorologists advise spending less time in the sun and drinking more water. At the same time, the heat is expected to hit Almaty in waves. Rain, thunderstorms and squally winds are expected in July and August.
