Tengrinews.kz - A resident of Aktau and amateur paleontologist, Vladimir Yartsev, has uncovered an old military flask in Mangystau, sharing his find on social media.

According to Yartsev, the flask may have belonged to a soldier of the Red Army or the Imperial Russian Army, as similar models were used by the military in 1917.

"I found the flask under a bush, half-buried in the sand. I often go out with a metal detector and find coins, buttons, arrowheads, and other small items—it's my hobby. As for how the flask ended up here, history tells us that Cossack units once sought refuge in Mangystau from the Red Army. I think it dates back to that time," he told Lada.kz.

Previously, Siberian scientists in Yakutsk discovered the remains of a female baby mammoth over 50,000 years old.
