Tengrinews.kz – The first plane carrying Kazakh citizens who departed for a pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia ten days ago has landed in Atyrau. On 28 February, this group encountered difficulties with departure from the region due to the start of military actions in the Middle East. There were in total 200 people on board, citing Atyrau Today.
This afternoon four aircraft were dispatched to pick up the pilgrims: three of them will land in Atyrau, and one more in Aktau.
Among those who arrived are residents of various cities of Kazakhstan: Almaty, Shymkent, Astana and other regions of the country. After completing registration procedures, they will immediately depart for their home cities.
According to the passengers themselves, the situation in Mecca, Jeddah and Medina remained calm, and there was no sign of panic among people.
Earlier we reported that Kazakh citizens have begun to be evacuated from Middle Eastern countries. The airline Flydubai operated two flights on the routes Dubai – Astana and Dubai – Almaty. On these two flights, the airline transported 306 passengers.
