Fire in central Almaty: bystanders help woman who ran out through the smoke

Tengrinews.kz — A fire broke out in central Almaty, and bystanders helped a young woman who ran out through the smoke, reports from the scene say.

According to witnesses, the fire started in the basement of a building on Karasay Batyr Street.

Witnesses said a young woman ran out of the building and had apparently inhaled smoke. There is currently no information about her condition.

Almaty’s Department of Emergency Situations told a Tengrinews.kz correspondent that at 1:09 p.m., fire crews were dispatched to 88B Karasay Batyr Street in the Almaly District. Preliminary reports indicate that a short circuit occurred in an administrative building. Three fire units were immediately sent to the scene. Other details are being clarified.
