Tengrinews.kz – The final month of 2025 will bring Kazakh citizens an extra day off.
Tengrinews.kz has prepared a convenient calendar of holidays and weekends for December so you can plan your rest, trips, or New Year’s preparations in advance.

How many days off will Kazakhstanis have in December 2025

In December, employees working a five-day week will have 9 days off and 22 working days. The additional day off will be on Independence Day, celebrated annually on December 16.

In 2025, this main national holiday falls on a Tuesday, giving Kazakhstanis a short midweek break.

For those on a six-day workweek, Independence Day will also be a public holiday, but the total rest time will be shorter — 4 days off and 26 working days.

It’s worth noting that December 31 remains a working day, so people are advised to plan shopping, holiday preparations, and New Year’s trips in advance.

Earlier, social media users once again discussed the idea of making December 31 an official day off. The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection reminded that this date is not on the official list of holidays and added that declaring it a non-working day is currently “not advisable.”

Professional holidays in December

Besides Independence Day, December includes several professional holidays:

  • December 5 — Lawyer’s Day;
  • December 6 — Prosecutor’s Day;
  • December 13 — Penal System Workers’ Day;
  • December 20 — State Courier Service Day;
  • December 22 — Energy Worker’s Day and Archivist’s Day.
