Every third Kazakhstan woman over 50 and every fifth man over 70 suffer from osteoporosis, Tengrinews.kz reports citing president of Kazakhstan Osteoporosis Doctors Association Gulzhan Gabdulina as saying at the press-conference called
Low life expectancy of Kazakhstan citizens: forecasts, decisions. Such quantity of sick people is related to the fact that many women over 50 and men over 70 do not consume milk products thinking that they are not well digested. “This is incorrect. Everything is digested. As for women, their estrogen level decreases causing dispersion of bone tissue. And of course, one of the main reasons is that people of this age often cease activities and reduce movement,” she said. Head of the healthy food laboratory of the Food Academy Roza Shakiyeva said that osteoporosis preventive program started on June 20, 2011. As part of the project experts will study the food habits of people in the risk group in all Kazakhstan oblasts and develope functional food and biologically active additives for osteoporosis prevention. All researches and treatment under the program will be made free of charge. Average life expectancy of Kazakhstan citizen does not reach 70: it is 68.41 years. Average man lives 63.51 years while average woman lives 73.32 years.
