Ertysbayev does not rule out parliamentary elections in summer

President’s aide Ermukhamet Ertysbayev does not rule out holding parliamentary elections in summer, Interfax – Kazakhstan reports.“I won’t be speculating on this issue for now (…) everything depends on the Parliament: if they unanimously decide to abnegate powers, allowing the President to proceed with the country’s political modernization, the elections will take place in summer. Consequently, a new government will be formed following the elections”, Mr. Ertysbayev said.He stressed that the current government headed by Prime Minister “has been working well”. According to the Central Elections Commission (CEC), the incumbent President Nazarbayev gained 95.5%, followed by Senator Gani Kassymov (1.9%), communist Zhambyl Akhmetbekov (1.9%) and environmentalist Mels Eleusizov (1.2%).
