Tengrinews.kz - Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) has issued a warning of maximum fire danger — class 5 — across several regions of the country.
According to Kazhydromet, thunderstorms with localized hail are expected in the north and east on August 23. Dust storms are forecast in the south and west, while air temperatures in Turkestan, Aktobe, West Kazakhstan, Mangystau, and Atyrau regions will reach +35…+40°C.
“Maximum, class 5 fire danger has been declared in Turkestan, Kyzylorda, Mangystau regions and in Shymkent,” the MES said in a statement.
Regional forecast:
- Astana: thunderstorm, wind up to 20 m/s.
- Almaty: thunderstorm, wind up to 15 m/s, high fire danger remains.
- Shymkent: thunderstorm and squall, wind up to 20 m/s, extreme fire danger.
- Alakol Lakes (Zhetysu): wind gusts over 30 m/s.
- Pavlodar region: heavy rain, squalls, hail.
- Atyrau and Mangystau regions: dust storms and heat up to +38°C.
MES recommendations:
- Do not light campfires in open areas.
- Do not smoke in steppes or forest belts.
- Do not burn grass or trash near dry vegetation.
