Tengrinews.kz – After heavy precipitation, Emergency Ministry units continue round-the-clock monitoring of mudflow-prone areas and rivers in Almaty.
According to the ministry, the hydrological situation in the city remained stable as of 8:00 a.m. No rise in water levels in the rivers has been recorded so far.
What is happening on the Aksay river
As part of preventive measures, Emergency Ministry employees, together with local executive bodies, completed work to reinforce and clear the bed of the Aksay river near the protective dam.
According to the ministry, the measures taken significantly reduced the water level.
Mountain lakes to be checked from the air
To monitor the situation, specialists continue to observe the basins of the Ulken Almaty and Kishi Almaty rivers.
In addition, an aerial visual inspection of moraine lakes and river basins is scheduled for today. This inspection will allow specialists to promptly assess the situation in mountainous areas and identify possible risks.
More than 130 employees and 20 units of equipment are involved at monitoring posts. The work involves units of the Almaty Department of Emergency Situations, the Rescue Service, the Barys Republican Operational Rescue Unit, Kazselezashchita specialists and police officers. The Emergency Ministry emphasized that the situation is under constant control.
As a reminder, on July 1, Almaty residents were warned about the continuing threat of mudflows forming in mountainous areas due to heavy rains. A local warning system was activated in the Nauryzbay district, and some residents also received emergency alerts on their mobile phones.
