Tengrinews.kz – The number of anthrax infections has increased in the Akmola region. One of the patients is in serious condition.
According to Sarhat Beisenova, Head of the Committee for Sanitary and Epidemiological Control of the Ministry of Healthcare and Kazakhstan's Chief Sanitary Doctor, in response to an official request by Tengrinews.kz, eight laboratory-confirmed cases of anthrax have been registered in the Akmola region as of the latest data.
"The infected individuals are receiving appropriate treatment. One patient is in a stable but serious condition and is being treated at the Infectious Diseases Center in Kokshetau. Among the confirmed cases, no healthcare workers have been infected," the committee’s response stated.
Authorities added that comprehensive anti-epidemic measures have been carried out in all infection hotspots, and the situation remains under the control of the Ministry of Healthcare.
"In the first six months of this year, 14 confirmed cases of anthrax were registered across the country, including 8 in the Akmola region. No fatal cases of anthrax have been recorded," the committee noted.
