Tengrinews.kz - The construction of a Disneyland has once again been discussed in the capital of Kazakhstan. This time, Astana Invest announced the interest of investors in building an amusement park worth 10 billion dollars on an area of 400 hectares. However, the company later removed the publication. Tengrinews.kz has investigated the details.
According to the information that was initially published on Instagram (screenshots are available to the editorial team), this is about "an ambitious project to build an amusement park similar to Disneyland in Shanghai."
"The entertainment complex, named "Silk Road," will combine the cultural features of Kazakhstan and China," the post on Astana Invest official Instagram page stated.
It was also noted that the future project is allegedly expected to attract investments of around 10 billion dollars, and its area will exceed 400 hectares.
Later, Astana Invest deleted the post, although a number of Kazakhstani media outlets had already published the information.
In response to a request from a Tengrinews.kz correspondent, the company stated that Astana Invest is a regional organization focused on attracting investments and supporting investors in Astana, providing consulting and informational services for investors based on the principle of "one window".
"On September 20, during a meeting with representatives of the Ulkenbay company, the opportunities for investing in priority sectors of the country's economy were clarified, with the possibility of receiving investment preferences such as land plots, benefits, and comprehensive project support. Investors proposed a project to build an amusement park similar to Disneyland in Shanghai. This is still at the proposal stage," the press service explained.
However, discussions about building a Disneyland in Kazakhstan has been discussed for more than 10 years.
In 2013, talks about building of an analog of Disneyland began in Ust-Kamenogorsk and Pavlodar.
