The authorities reported that the defendants operated without proper registration on the Astana International Financial Centre platform, facilitating the exchange of crypto assets.
"The court convicted two individuals under Article 214 of the Criminal Code for engaging in illegal entrepreneurial activities. The total unlawful turnover from the exchanges exceeded 7 billion tenge," the statement read.
Additionally, the convicted parties have been ordered to reimburse the state budget for the full amount of illegal proceeds through a civil lawsuit.
In total, the Astana prosecutor's office initiated four claims amounting to 7.9 billion tenge. All claims were upheld, and the damages were fully recovered from the defendants.
