Tengrinews.kz - Aray Zekenova, the chief expert of the Department of Sanitary and Epidemiological Control, provided an update on the coronavirus situation in Kazakhstan.

The chief expert reported that the epidemiological situation on coronavirus in Kazakhstan is stable, with cases decreasing eightfold compared to last year.

"Since the beginning of the year, Kazakhstan has registered 1,290 cases of COVID-19, with no fatalities reported. The Omicron JN.1 variant is circulating in the country, which, according to WHO, does not pose serious risk or lead to more severe illness. The Ministry of Healthcare continues epidemiological monitoring and preventive measures," Zekenova said.

In schools, if 20-30% of students in a class become ill with ARVI, influenza, or COVID-19, it is recommended to suspend the classroom system and prohibit the admission of new students for 10 days.

If 30% or more of students in a class become ill within one incubation period, the class will be switched to online learning.

In case of symptoms of flu, ARVI, or COVID-19, it is recommended to consult doctors and avoid self-treatment to prevent complications.

"By following all preventive and epidemiological measures, we can avoid the spread of COVID-19, as we did in previous years," concluded Aray Zekenova.
