Tengrinews.kz - City Transportation Systems (CTS) has announced the completion of the cable-stayed LRT (light rail transit) bridge over the Esil River.
The LRT bridge was built parallel to the automobile bridge on Kaldayakov Street.
The bridge is 155 meters long, 14 meters wide, and 28 meters high. The structure features an arch with a passage underneath, and the arch of the span structure is equipped with tie rods. The roadway slab is designed as a beam cage with a reinforced concrete slab.
"The bridge is located next to the existing automobile bridge over the Esil River, which allows for the seamless integration of the new structure into the urban infrastructure. The facility has been designed with the river's characteristics in mind to handle potential changes in water levels and the region's climatic conditions," CTS explained.
LRT in Astana is an infrastructure project aimed at creating a modern public transport system to improve mobility in the city. LRT will connect key areas of the capital, including the airport, the new railway station, and business centers, offering an alternative to car transport to reduce traffic congestion and air pollution.
The system will use modern trains to transport a large number of passengers along dedicated tracks, ensuring high speed and regularity of service. It is expected that LRT will include several lines with stops at the busiest locations in the city.
