Climbers found “dangerous errors“ in maps for Almaty tourists

The Kazakhstan Alpine Club published a post that caught the attention of the public.
"Recently, the Almaty Tourism Management and Almaty Tourism Bureau released an atlas of mountain routes, a map of mountain trails, and a brochure titled 'Mountain Peaks and Safety.' Unfortunately, despite the impressive appearance of these materials, they contain serious errors that could pose a danger to your life and health," their statement read.
The activists listed the following errors they discovered:
- "There is no trail above the Third Waterfall of Ayusai! Accidents occur in this area every year."
- "The Abai and Pionersky passes are dangerous without special equipment."
- "Lake 'Primul' is located in Kyrgyzstan. Crossing the border is illegal and punishable by law."
- "The route to Tourist Peak is indicated incorrectly."
- "The route to Lake named after Manshuk Mametova leads to a dangerous glacier," they reported.
- Additionally, they noted errors in names and geographical locations. They pointed out that "Mount Uchitel has moved to Karatau, Karatau to Aristov, and the Battery Waterfall has been incorrectly labeled as Kumbel."
"Please do not rely on these materials when planning your hikes. Consult experienced guides and rescuers before heading out on the trail. Take care of yourself and your loved ones," the activists warned.
The club has submitted all these remarks to the Almaty Tourism Management.
"Representatives from the management promised to make corrections to the maps," they reported.
The release of these informational materials was previously announced by the city akimat's press service.
