China to close Khorgos for two weeks

Tengrinews.kz – China will close its state border for two weeks due to New Year celebrations. The Khorgos International Center for Border Cooperation will also be closed, according to KTK.

The celebrations will last for 14 days. Khorgos will be closed from February 16 to March 1. During this time, renovation works will be carried out to improve the level of comfort for tourists. The facility will resume operations on March 2.

New Year is one of the main holidays for people in China. They begin preparing for it in advance and celebrate it on a grand scale. Chinese families decorate their homes with red lanterns, prepare traditional dishes, visit relatives and friends, and launch bright fireworks.

The holiday period in China is officially considered time off work. Most citizens do not work, including border checkpoint staff.
