Tengrinews.kz - Almaty’s Kairat football club secured a place in the UEFA Champions League group stage after a dramatic penalty shootout win over Scotland’s Celtic. The Kazakh team’s triumph sparked huge celebrations among local fans and plenty of debate online. Meanwhile, Celtic supporters in Almaty have been spotted making the most of their trip, exploring the city’s sights.

Video

One such video went viral on TikTok, showing Celtic fans “rehabilitating” their spirits after the painful defeat with a walk along the popular “Health Trail” (also known as Terrenkur and "Health Path") on Kok-Tobe.

In the clip, the visitors say it’s their first time in Almaty and point out the stunning city views from Kok-Tobe hill.

“Celtic fans after losing to Kairat are cheering themselves up with a walk along the Health Trail on Kok-Tobe!” the post reads.

The Health Trail

According to the Kok-Tobe website, the scenic trail can be reached not only by cable car or car, but also via a new pedestrian path starting at Omarova Street 76/2 (upper “Kok-Tobe” bus stop). The location is accessible by buses № 95 and № 99 from Dostyk Plaza.

“The trail winds along picturesque slopes with panoramic views of the city. Along the way, you’ll find benches, trash bins, lighting, and surveillance cameras. The path is steep in some areas, but the walk is worth it: in the evening, the view over the city is especially breathtaking.

There are scenic viewpoints along the route, and for your convenience, a small kiosk is available – offering cold drinks, snacks, ice cream, and other treats to make your walk even more enjoyable,” the website notes.

The trail is already open for daily free access and is suitable for leisure walks, sports, or outdoor relaxation without leaving the city.

Earlier, Kairat’s victory sent shockwaves through social media, filling feeds with congratulations, heated debates, and of course, plenty of memes. The football upset has quickly become one of the month’s hottest topics online.
