“Came as tourists but stayed as workers“: Illegal migrants found in Astana

Tengrinews.kz - Six Pakistani nationals were found working illegally at a construction site in Astana during an operation by the city's migration service.

According to the capital's police department, the foreigners arrived in Kazakhstan as tourists. However, instead of sightseeing, they took illegal jobs at a construction site and overstayed their permitted period of stay.

"As per the court's decision, the violators were held administratively liable and were forcibly deported from the country," the police said.

During the broader "Law and Order" operation, police identified 422 foreign nationals and 70 Kazakh citizens for various violations. A total of 72 foreign nationals were deported.
