Average salary in Kazakhstan revealed

Tengrinews.kz – The Bureau of National Statistics has published data on the median and average monthly salaries in Kazakhstan.

The average monthly nominal salary in Kazakhstan for the first quarter of 2026 amounted to 461,486 tenge. Compared with the same period last year, the average salary increased by 9.1 percent, but adjusted for inflation, it decreased by 2.3 percent.

Average salary by region in Kazakhstan

By region, the highest growth in the average monthly nominal salary was recorded in Abai Region — 14.2 percent, or 405,425 tenge; Pavlodar Region — 12.4 percent, or 448,906 tenge; Zhetysu Region — 12.2 percent, or 346,199 tenge; Almaty Region — 10.9 percent, or 376,012 tenge; and Almaty — 10.7 percent, or 574,162 tenge.

The highest average salary was recorded in Mangystau Region — 659,801 tenge, Ulytau Region — 655,995 tenge, and Atyrau Region — 652,950 tenge.

The largest increase in the average monthly salary was recorded in agriculture, forestry and fisheries — 20.3 percent; financial and insurance activities — 18.1 percent; water supply — 16.5 percent; electricity, gas, steam, hot water and air conditioning supply — 14.7 percent; transport and warehousing — 12.9 percent; industry — 11.6 percent; healthcare and social services — 7 percent; and education — 4.2 percent.

Median salary in Kazakhstan

The median salary, meaning the central level of the salary range, amounted to 331,527 tenge in the first quarter of 2026.

As a reminder, in the fourth quarter of 2025, the average salary in Kazakhstan was 473,158 tenge, while the median salary stood at 339,912 tenge.
