Tengrinews.kz - The Ministry of Digital Development, Innovations, and Aerospace Industry has commented on the national alert that was sent to Astana residents on March 6.

It was revealed that the city is being connected to an emergency mass notification system using Cell Broadcast technology.

"Today [March 6], residents and visitors of Astana received a national alert on their smartphones. Currently, work is underway to integrate Astana into the mass emergency notification system using Cell Broadcast technology," the ministry stated.

The alert was part of a test, and officials urged the public not to worry and to rely only on official sources of information.

Earlier, Astana residents received messages labeled "Presidential Alert" and "National Alert." The Ministry of Emergency Situations clarified that it was not involved in the technical testing of the MasAlert system.
