Tengrinews.kz - New details about Arkalyk Airport have been revealed.
According to the Ministry of Transport, the project design is nearing completion.
"A two-story terminal complex with a total area of 3,200 square meters and a capacity of 70 passengers per hour is planned. Funds have also been allocated for the purchase of aeronautical and meteorological equipment," Transport Minister Marat Karabayev said during a meeting with residents of the Kostanay Region.
In addition, the 2,500-meter runway will be renovated.
The ministry plans to launch subsidized flights to Kostanay, Astana, and Almaty once construction is completed.
Officials also presented a concept design of the future airport.
Previously, Tengrinews.kz reporters visited the construction site and showed its current condition. In 2020, a private owner listed Arkalyk Airport for sale on a classified ads website. In December 2024, the Kostanay regional akimat (local government administration) repurchased the airport for 20.7 million tenge, returning it to state ownership.
