Tengrinews.kz - Vice Minister of Industry and Construction Olzhas Saparbekov was asked whether, in his view, Kazakh citizens are “living like in an anthill.”
At a government briefing, the official was asked whether he thought housing in Kazakhstan is being built in a way that resembles anthills.
Saparbekov responded that everything in the country is built in accordance with established standards.
“You just have to compare how people live in other countries, in other states, and you’ll see that we’re not exactly living like in an anthill,” the vice minister replied.
When asked whether housing in Kazakhstan could be considered affordable, Saparbekov said, “If there is demand, there will be supply.”
“Housing is available on the market. You have to understand that housing is not the kind of product you can just go and buy in one go. (...) We ourselves also had to save up to buy a home — it’s a major purchase. We have options in terms of price, quality, layout, and neighborhoods. There are segments where you can buy cheaper, more expensive — it depends on one’s preferences,” the official added.
