Tengrinews.kz – This summer, eight confirmed cases of anthrax were recorded in the Akmola Region. It was later discovered that the disease was also present in other regions.
According to the Ministry of Healthcare, in response to an official request from the Tengrinews.kz editorial office, seven confirmed cases of anthrax were registered in Kazakhstan in July: five in the Akmola Region (previously reported as eight), one in the Karaganda Region (the patient was a resident of the Zhambyl Region), and one in Shymkent (the outbreak occurred in the Turkestan Region).
“At present, anti-epidemic measures are continuing in one outbreak site — in the Turkestan Region. All other outbreak sites have been contained,” the Ministry reported.
What about the Akmola Region?
According to the Ministry of Healthcare, the epidemiological situation regarding anthrax in the region is currently stable.
“One of the patients is receiving appropriate treatment in an infectious diseases hospital in the Akmola Region; their condition is satisfactory. The others have been discharged from the hospital after recovery,” the ministry stated.
As of August 13 this year, no new anthrax cases have been registered.
About a month ago, the head of the Committee for Sanitary and Epidemiological Control of the Ministry of Healthcare, Kazakhstan’s Chief Sanitary Doctor Sarhat Beisenova, told Tengrinews.kz that eight laboratory-confirmed anthrax cases had been recorded in the Akmola Region.
