Tengrinews.kz - 35 Kazakhstani universities entered the prestigious QS Asia University Rankings 2025. 13 educational institutions of which are located in Almaty.
The statistics were provided by the press service of the city akimat (the local government administration). According to them, representatives of the QS agency note that Kazakhstani universities (participants in the rating) demonstrated the dynamics of their positions: almost two-thirds improved their results from last year.
"22 Kazakhstani universities improved their positions, three universities maintain their position. Al-Farabi Kazakh National University is in the top hundred of the rating. Satbayev University is also in the top 100, ranking 89th," the akimat reported.
In addition, Kazakh National Women's Teacher Training University returned to the rating after a year-long break, entering the 801-850 category.
13 Almaty universities and their positions in the QS Asia University Rankings 2025:
- Al-Farabi Kazakh National University - 29th place;
- Satbayev University - 89th place;
- Abay Kazakh National Pedagogical University - 131st place;
- Kazakh National Agrarian Research University - 149th place;
- Kazakh-British Technical University - 230th place;
- KIMEP University - 269th place;
- Kazakh Ablai Khan University of International Relations and World Languages - 305th place;
- Narxoz University - 345th place;
- Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University - 345th place;
- Almaty Technological University - 354th place;
- International Information Technologies University - 751-800th place;
- Turan University - 751-800th place;
- Kazakh National Women's Teacher Training University - 801-850th place.

The akimat also recalled that 985 universities from 25 countries and territories participated in the ranking of the best universities in Asia. The greatest competition for Kazakhstani universities is made up of universities in India, China, Japan and South Korea.
The ranking was compiled by QS Quacquarelli Symonds, one of the most authoritative agencies in the world, which has a great influence on the reputation and recognition of universities. QS evaluates universities based on such criteria as academic reputation, reputation among employers, the ratio of teachers and students, scientific publications and participation in international research.
