Tengrinews.kz - Seismic strengthening of buildings will begin in Almaty based on the experience of Japan. This was announced by Almaty’s akim (governor) Erbolat Dossaev.
"In the first half of 2025, based on the results of the seismic audit of the city, a city program for seismic strengthening of buildings will be developed and implemented, according to the experience of Japan, the USA, and Israel," said Erbolat Dossaev.
As part of the adopted housing renovation program for the city of Almaty, the akimat will adjust the existing work on seismic strengthening of public social and administrative buildings.
"From 2025 to 2027, an additional 70 seismic stations will be installed to improve the automated earthquake early warning system. The city’s budget for 2025 allocates 700 million tenge," the akim added.
