Tengrinews.kz — A man in Almaty has been held accountable for social media posts promoting polygamy. The videos were discovered by police during routine social media monitoring.

In the published footage, the man spoke about polygamy and presented the lifestyle as acceptable.

"We don't care at all what other people think of us," the blogger says in one of the clips.

Police stated that such content contradicts Kazakhstan's legislation and undermines respect for the institution of the family.

Law enforcement identified the author of the videos and filed an administrative report under Part 3-1 of Article 456-2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses for the publication and distribution of illegal content.

Under this article, the man faces a fine of 20 monthly calculation indices. In 2026, this amounts to 86,500 tenge.

Following a conversation with the police, the man voluntarily deleted the posts from his page.

Police reminded the public that social networks are public spaces and that individuals are liable for publishing materials that promote behavioral models prohibited by law.
