Tengrinews.kz - A 30-year-old man from Almaty found himself in legal trouble after answering “Yes” during a routine airport security question, citing Polisia.kz.

The incident occurred as the man was preparing to board a flight to Astana. When asked the standard security question about whether he was carrying any prohibited items, the passenger jokingly replied, “Yes,” and then quickly added that he was joking.

Airport security did not take the remark lightly. Authorities logged a potential threat and conducted necessary checks, though no evacuation was needed and airport operations continued without disruption.

However, the joke came at a cost — the man was charged with petty hooliganism.

Police officials reminded the public that any comments, even those made “as a joke,” that refer to threats against public safety are treated as offenses under the law.

Previously, a teenager’s inappropriate joke at Almaty International Airport led to flight delays and temporary flight restrictions.
